What to do When your Adult Child is Ready to Move Out
- Make sure a plan is in place and the proper amount of funding dedicated to the plan.
- Establish a communication system with paid staff.
- Help your son or daughter establish ‘rules’ for their home such as when visits are welcome, and what kind of ‘help’ from you is appreciated.
- Sticking to these rules will help your son or daughter to enjoy his/her independence and will help you to back off and enjoy yours.
