When will they learn? BCTF ad campaign 'visuals'

This morning driving my daughter to day care I was next to a bus with an ad for BCTF's new campaign, which can be found at www.whenwilltheylearn.ca.  The title was "Special Needs Neglected" yet all the kids on the ad looked like they had escaped from a Sears catalogue. No diversity or inclusion here. When I checked their website, these three generic, 'typical' kids are the spokesfaces for the entire campaign. My question is, can BCTF not even be inclusive for an ad campaign and include some kids who may actually visually reflect the population in need of special ed resources? Not every child who requires extra supports also looks like every other typical kid in the playground. Ironically, as we neared the day care, I saw a parent dragging his 'special' child across the cross walk, a picture that more accurately represents my life than picture perfect ponytails. Here's an idea, if BCTF is having a difficult time recruiting a representative group of kids with special needs for their ad campaign they should offer some incentive, like, oh I don't know, maybe actually providing the dedicated support that parents are promised or ensuring some meaningful consultation on IEPs. That should result in a casting call the likes of one for Hannah Montana.
